I think he may have converted me to a "dog person"

I've never been much of a dog person. Maybe that's because I never had a dog growing up (Pop wouldn't let us) or maybe that's because I got bit by a stray one when I was younger and have been slightly afraid of them since then. But whatever it is I've always liked cats a little more. They are so easy to take care of, they don't smell bad, they keep themselves clean, etc etc etc.

BUT..... ever since the arrival of Dexter, my parents new cavapoo puppy, I think I may now be a dog person. Yes he kind of smells and he has had some minor potty accidents, but he is the cutest thing ever!! He follows you around the house everywhere you go and just wants to be held which are 2 things my cat will not do.

Seriously though this little 4 pound fluff ball has stolen my heart. He is so lovable and cuddly! I can't see why anyone wouldn't love him. He has this adorable way of running on the wood floors so that he slips and falls. And an even more adorable way of falling asleep on your lap with his little chin resting on your hand. Today we spent pretty much the entire day together (I was on puppy duty while my parents were at work) and we bonded. I even taught him to pee outside!!! Which is quite an accomplishment since he's been peeing in his crate all the time. I was pretty proud of myself I have to admit.

So like I said I think I am now a dog person. Well not a full on dog person because I still do like cats too. However, I am slowly trying to convince Josh that we need to get a dog someday. Right now he says the only way he wants one is if it's a wolf... like a real wolf. I don't know how I feel about that, but I guess it's a start. The dog I want is a huge fluffy white one called a Samoyed. So I'll keep working on him.

Just an FYI... Dexter will NOT be wearing clothing. Thankfully my dad is adamant against this (as am I). This was just a little outfit my sister had leftover from her dog that she wanted him to try. So this is a one time only photo of him in clothing. But I have to admit he does look stinkin cute.

  1. Haha.. you're a dog person for sure! You have the magic touch when it comes to potty training Dexter! Thanks for watching and bonding with him while we've been at work and good luck converting Josh.

    Love you, Pop

  2. Sasha! I don't know why I haven't read your blog before...found it on Steff's sidebar. Dogs are the way to go, but I agree-they all kind of smell. Something about dog breath kind of makes them a little less cute. but just a little.
